Too many
It's been a good day when you have so many pics to choose from. Difficult to choose just two!
A few morning chores then Michelle came over for our London adventure to begin. She'd won tickets for Virgin Radio Sunset Sessions to see Natalie Imbruglia at the News building 17th floor for a half hour concert in front of 200 people.
We decided to take it steady and spend some time at Borough Market, mooching amongst the sights and smells - fresh squid in all its slimy glory, fresh tamarind looking like witchetty grubs, steaming Spanish paella pans as big as tractor wheels with a queue for this snaking long outside the market itself. We settled on sharing Japanese tempura fried samphire with yuzu mayonnaise, followed by Thai mini coconut pancakes.
A walk around the back streets including Dirty Lane where we stopped in a Japanese cookery store which had an incredible display of cooking knives!
Onto Clink Street with the remains of Winchester Palace with a 13th century rose window remaining which is stunning in the sunshine in the shadow of Southwark Cathedral. There's also a garden in the front with plants that would have been popular in medieval gardens. Just lovely.
We then walked along the river towards Tower Bridge marvelling at the bronze statues by artists Gillie and Marc. The particular one in my extra was called Rise Up Rhino showing 'Dogman and Rabbitwoman' holding up and inviting us to be Rhino protectors. Michelle and I feared it was too late, as only 2 Northern white rhinos are left in the world. The next Bronze was even sadder telling us In the last 50 years, 70% of the world’s wildlife has been lost. Sobering thought.
Fast forward to the concert. We were standing admiring the view of London below, taking pictures of Strictly Come Dancing Stars, when a gentleman asked us if we were invited guests of the sponsors or 'influencers'! Today's world!!
The live music was fabulous and I was completely starstruck by her natural beauty and shiny hair!!!
Home by 9ish. What an amazing adventure!
