Another day in the new flat scraping old paint off. In the afternoon when I had had enough of scraping I finished connecting the network sockets. One was completely out, and one line in another one wasn't properly punched down. Not surprised by the first one, I foolishly untwisted the cables all at once. Luckily there was enough cable to have another go. I really prefer software - you make a mistake and you get to have another go - no biggie. It's all working now, at least the cable tester is happy. So far the data centre is in less of a guddle than it was before.
