Looking over Flanders Moss to the Menteith Hills
Flanders Moss is one of the few remaining raised bogs in Scotland. It is now a nature reserve in the Carse of Stirling, part of the upper Forth Valley. Much of the ancient bog was drained centuries ago to provide farmland and only this section survives. It is protected and work is ongoing to keep it as a wetland which provides a habitat for birds, reptiles, mosses and other rare plant species.
