Thornborough church burial ground has become overgrown as they tried to get more wild flowers to grow and bloom and thereby attract more insects. They were successful with a great number of butterflies.
In preparation for their Harvest Thanksgiving they decided to call for volunteers to help cut and carry away the long grass from the 2 acre burial ground. At 9 am folk from the village plus a group of National trust staff and volunteer gardeners arrived with grass cutting equipment and rakes and barrows. I joined in and by lunchtime we had made a real change.
