Life from city to village

Martin Luther King

Today we walked around the Potomac tidal basin. We saw the Jefferson Memorial, the impressive Roosevelt Memorial, Robert Paul Jones Memorial and a stunning memorial to Dr Martin Luther King. We then went to the Museum of African American history. The memorial to Emmett Till was particularly upsetting, as it should be. Some of the history I was familiar with - I’ve read about the Atlantic slave trade. But Harriet Tubman and William Douglas were new to me. We would have stayed longer but the museum closed at half five.
