The whole wide world, an endless universe

Down in Leith for work and I was surprised at how much development is underway around Ocean Terminal and round the north side of the Victoria dock where the tram now goes.  There are some pretty big flats being built, already up to five floors tall.

I can't help thinking that as Forth Ports gradually sells off its derelict bits of land, Edinburgh is trying to fashion the area into a sort of Woolwich dockyard meets Canary Wharf.  The view from the Scot Gov building towards the Forth will disappear once the flats all rise up.  I guess the crane operators have got the best view meanwhile.
