A Day Out
What a commute. Train from Toronto Union Station was really delayed with literally hundreds of very annoyed commuters swarming in the concourse. We eventually boarded the train and it was announced it wouldn't stop at any station on the way to Hamilton. Uproar. I thought folk were going to trash the train. I was happy to announce to everyone within earshot l am happily retired. Not one passenger was impressed. We had to change at Oakvile (the seats were very dirty). I put on my faux Harris Tweed jump suit. We limped into Burlington and trudged home in the rain. I surmise this type of quotidian commuter angst must be going on constantly as l sip my Bladnoch and look out on Scapa Flow.
However we had a great day out in the Art Gallery of Ontario and spent our pensions on an obscenely expensive lunch. We ate it with relish.
Steve Rodby is still 68.
