The Bernina Express

This morning we were up early to catch the 08.06 Bernina Express train from Tirano to Chur, journey which takes over 4 hours.
My main blip shows the front of our train going over the Solisviaduct, the highest one on  the railway. In extras there is a view from Alp Grum (2091 m) looking towards a glacier and the Bernina Pass, shortly before we ascended to Ospizio Bernina the highest point at 2253m. I've also included a view of a typical alpine village along the journey. The train was so smooth and quiet it was hard to believe the steep gradients it was tackling. The scenery was spectacular and it was certainly an unforgettable journey.  We are staying the night in Chur in an old prison! You can see it in my third extra looking down into Chur. It is the building in the centre of the picture with a conical tiled roof. Fortunately our 'cell' has a proper ensuite shower room and the door has been converted so we can come and go as we please!
