After Agnes

Arriving home last night I switched the van engine off, hopped out and heard a terrible crashing sound in the woods.
This morning in the light I went for a look.
A lovely big beech tree had come down, it's taken out a dead birch tree and a significant part of a live pine. Sad, but part of the natural order.

Later in the day I helped Nice Neighbour take down more of the hall's large branches that overhang our properties, they'd had a tall poplar come down from the hall, into their drive last week, fortunately missed the house and their car.

And then I read about the awful vandalism at the Sycamore Gap.

Overall not a good day for trees.
