The vandals are ever with us.

I came home from a walk around the village somewhat angry that the village vandals have been hard at work overnight.

Then, to put things in some sort of perspective I discover that overnight someone  has cut down the world famous and much-loved Sycamore tree at Sycamore gap on Hadrian's wall! You can see the damage here.
