Run, Pukeko, run

I was able to read a few chapters of the next book in the series I'm reading while having my lunch. On the way home I called in at Te Wai Orea (Western Springs Lake) forr a walk and getting a blip. One of the first couple of photos was today's blip. A Pukeko running in the grass to join others.

The extra was one of the last photos I took. Unseen in this photo were the other five spoonbills in this part of the colony. Imediately below the spoonbill is a Kawau paka (Little Pied Shag). It must be a bit of an uncomfortable place  for it.
