The Wren

Refreshed from a slightly longer sleep last night, with no exciting port arrivals to distract me, I enjoyed the relaxation of the quilt group this morning. Then I decided on a longer than usual walk for my chums to reward them for being so good while I was away. There had been a spit of rain during the night and soon into the walk my eye was caught by the sparkly dandelions and on closer inspection I noticed that they were heavily laden with rain drops. I got very wet knees taking several shots, but back home I decided on this one as I love the way the dry seeds on the top right have shaken off their damp burden and are ready to fly, while their siblings are still looking pendulous.

After the walk I went down to the local recycling area and came home with two large bags of excellent compost and set to with planting the little apple tree I bought a while ago. It is going in to a very, very large pot as there is nowhere to plant it in the ground so as to be sufficiently near the Bramley to assist pollination, which is the only reason I bought it. I am delighted to see that there are the beginnings of apples on the new tree but most excitingly, also on the Bramley apple, so my ploy seems to have worked.
