A Grand Old Lime

Another day, another campsite, this time near Lake Chalain. Went for an exploratory wander to the village of Marigny & came across this impressive lime which was apparently planted in 1651 to mark the end of the 30 years war. The wall & the statue were added in 1860 though the wall didn't last as well as the tree & had to be renovated in 2015.

Would have preferred a view of the tree alone but the direction of the sun & closeness of buildings prevented alternative angles.
