Old Quarry Swamp, North Head
A runner paused. “Have you seen the snake?” No, but we’d seen one earlier, the other side of the headland. He’d almost stepped on one, just here, he said, on his run down to Shelly Beach.
I don’t know if it’s seasonal but apart from the diamond python (extra), a bluetongue lizard was spotted. Eastern water dragons everywhere. Scrub turkeys jumped on tables at the café, ignoring attempts to shoo them. Bees hummed.
The flannel flowers were out in force.
