Poppy

Its poppy time!

Apart from the ubiquitous yellow Welsh poppies, which are in everyone's garden, the other commonly grown ones are the Oriental poppies, of which this is one. The blooms are huge & frequently described as being like crumpled silk. Mostly they are a brilliant red-orange (& I have two of those) but I also have this pink one. They are lovely but very untidy because the flowers don't last long. In an ideal world you'd be tidying the fallen petals away on a daily basis - needless to say, I can't achieve that ideal world!
