Contrasts

Forfar is a place with poverty not so hidden from view and a High Street that is just about surviving with a mix of charity shops, betting shops and to let shops. This and several others hark back to a past age when they were common sights. This hardware shop just begged to be visited but the owner was literally locking up when I took the photo. We went into a butchers. No joints or cooked meats like ham, but bacon, sausages, pies and a small selection of wet fish. They know their clientele. Their pies were fabulous. Down the road an old fashioned looking 'ladies' modes' shop which we wondered how it could survive. We plan to return to get to know the area better.
