seeing red

There are two roads heading South from the town centre.  One of them - it goes to the M1 and the southern part of MK - was closed.  (And just to confuse you, South is at the top of screen). 

We emerged onto the High Street just before 9.00am into a line of traffic which headed back as far as the eye could see, to the hills of Northamptonshire.  It's the B526 - the thick red line at the bottom of the screen.  The rush hour is now the extremely slow hour. 

The road will remain closed for the next 12 months.  There are a lot of very unhappy people in the area.  The local MP is even involved in trying to get the closure changed.  Luckily we only have to do this once a week when we head off to our respective gyms.  And we don't have to return home at the end of the working day, either.
