There she is!
Anna, finally bathed in sun.
We set off from our lovely pad in the forest. We wanted to see bears, but the refuge was a big detour and the rain was relentless. We were advised they would be hiding anyway. So we took a westerly route and then cut South, down to the coast at Karlobag. The mountains had been wild and wet, but as soon as the altitude diminished, so did the cloud. The winds however remained, and it was a bright but hugely blustery drive along the narrow coast road.
The toll road sped us on to Zadar. We have a flat in the old town for a few days, sitting above the street life of this vibrant town. Venetian vibes, Roman remains, Byzantine churches, we will explore tomorrow.
Sundown at the Tramuntana with the fantastic sea organ booming in the distance . Every seaside town needs one. Google it!
We had a tasting menu later as a bit of a treat. Food really good. Service weird. I guess it’s all in the mix. The mountain people would be blanching at the city folk. Well that’s how it feels anyway. Love it all though. Relaxed and happy in this beautiful country.
