At our shoot on a busy shopping street in Apeldoorn today I was shooting from a position I often use: stretched out on the ground, when I felt someone was watching me. Well maybe more than one person was watching. ;-) But when I turned to my right I looked straight in his face. He had a real friendly look and I immediately shot a picture of him.

I stopped my shoot for a while to talk with him. He was wearing warm clothes on this warm sunny day he said, because what's good for the cold is good for the heat. Huig van Ommeren is 88 years old and he has travelled the world he said. After the second world war he was in the army and he was stationed in Indonesia for about four years. After that he and his wife had moved to New Zealand, where he worked as a toolmaker. His wife was a lovely person, he said. An intelligent women and very beautiful. They were married for 61 years when she passed away in the fall, last year...
