The Long and Winding Road
We went to see the Irish Women's football team playing in the Aviva Stadium. It is their first match since returning from playing in the World Cup. It is also their first time playing in the Aviva. Their biggest home crowd had been 7,600 but today there were over 37,000 spectators in the Stadium. It was a celebration and an acknowledgement of what they had achieved. The path of the Irish Women's team had not been an easy one. Down through the years it had been a hard fight for them to achieve the recoginition that they deservered. Today was their day, but what they and the past players have achieved off the field as well as on the field for Irish Sport and Sport in general should not be forgotten.
Irish Women's National Football Team.
