Dear Green Place 9 - Kelvingrove Park
Another gorgeous day. Went to join the many thousands of people who were watching the West End Festival Mardi Gras parade, which ended here in Kelvingrove Park.
This was Scotland's first purpose-built park, designed by Sir Joseph Paxton in 1854 (though work had already started on landscaping the park the previous year). Paxton also designed Glasgow's other early Victorian parks -- Alexandra Park, Queen's Park and the Botanic Gardens -- but he is probably better known as the architect of the Crystal Palace.
