We spent today wandering around Rugby. The park was lovely, the Rugby Football museum was very interesting and we saw The Close, part of Rugby School where the modern game is supposed to have been invented.
The family history side of our visit was less successful. The part of North Street where my great grandfather had his fish shop is now a modern shopping centre. The church where my great-grandparents were married was completely rebuilt in the 1870s. The church where my paternal grandparents were married was still there but locked.
In the end, we gave up and headed out to Draycote Water, where the circular path around the reservoir was closed off and then it started to rain!
It was still an enjoyable day though.
