Poppy’s Big Day

We managed to leave the house just before 8 this morning and had a good run over to Cardiff with a quick breakfast stop. Once we had the keys for her flat, D ran up and down from the car to her first floor flat with all her belongings and Poppy and I started putting things away and trying to make the very tiny room look nice. Once we’d unpacked, we drove over to IKEA to get some other bits then Tesco to get her some food. Tesco was full of parents and their offspring getting provisions.
We left poppy at about 5 and came over to our hotel then met up with her in town at about 7.30. Poppy was very brave and got the bus by herself into the city centre. The town was heaving and we tried several restaurants before managing to get a table in Pizza Express.
After dinner we met up with Poppy’s friend Maddie and her parents in a wine bar. I actually went to school with Maddie’s dad and we reckon it’s 37 years since we’ve seen each other. We had a great evening with them and have just arrived back at our hotel.
Not looking forward to saying goodbye to Poppy tomorrow.
