Shakespeare and Company

The famous English-language bookshop in Paris. The history going back to 1919 (although in a different place and different owner). The original store was a gathering place for the great expat writers of the time—Joyce, Hemingway, Stein, Fitzgerald, Eliot, Pound—as well as for leading French writers.
We wanted to visit the store early this in year in summer, but the queue was too long. Today we were lucky and got in easily. Inside, the shop is unique and full of character. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed.

From the park around the corner, the renovation work on the church of Notre Dame de Paris is also clearly visible (see extra). Apparently, the work is on schedule for reopening in December 2024.
