Easy as 1-2-3
Not!
Make two half spheres. Join them. Cut a hole. Wind a flat piece into a tube. Stick it on top. Make a handle and stick it on. Simples!
But. First half sphere mustn't dry (shrink) much before joining second one. Only one mould so can only make one at a time. Also they mustn't be too soft either or .... whoops! They looked rather messy and not awfully spherical initially but 'fiddling' - includes patting firmly with a wooden paddle - made a big difference. The 'funnel' needs to be not too soft and cut to the right size ... so cut the hole and measure the diameter. Multiply that by Pi (3.142) and voila! The handle is another test altogether, the first I have done for a very long time. Luckily Joe was on hand to advise and help. More fiddling .... and a bit more later! Now we wait to see if it will survive the kiln.
I also took Jamie to an appointment in Dolgellau this afternoon, walked Meg, cooked tea and potted some garden centre daffs. A satisfying sort of day.
