Car crash weather
Not us , thanks be, but on way to airport first a horrible shunt outsideFiorentina’s new training ground and then joining the A1 motorway we saw a camper overturned having smashed into the barrier as it came down the steep, tight exit lane. The driver was gravely injured. We got to airport through steamy weather and congested traffic. I dropped The Boss and skedaddled back hoping the forecast rain from the cold front marching down across Western Europe would arrive. So far it hasn’t despite much lowering and huffing and puffing.
It’s a fool’s errand to watch for some rain but after so much dry and heat it’s kind of understandable.
I’ve started to cut the bug field where the knapweed is a good metre tall. Knapweed, I thought. Was it used for bringing up the knap/nap on woollen cloth by gently beating it. But no, knap from Middle English knop/nob for the hardheaded seed heads.
