Beyond the flower

The southern magnolia tree has those beautiful velvety sweet smelling flowers that I love but in the fall it has these "cones" that get red seeds on the them which makes the tree look like it is blooming in red flowers.  This cone is about half way full of seeds.  It is on the way home from my job so I can get a look at it once a week to see it get fully red...along with some of the other cones on the tree.   The tree is full of cones...they are mostly just starting to get a reddish tint except for this one.

It is in the sun and is apparently loving the heat.
