Point Betsie Light

We left Petoskey, Mi. this morning with the intention of spending the night in Traverse City, Mi. We made it there, but decided not to stay. The overcast skies weren't going to make for good lighthouse pictures. So, we went west to the big lake (Lake Michigan), and headed south.

We happened upon an iris farm. Row after row of irises, in every color and name you could think of. I took WAY too many pictures, but it was hard not to. If the sun would have been out...it would have been perfect. Two young models doing a shoot added to the atmosphere. Lisa said she was doing a lot of "pouty" looks, but I caught her smiling.

We ended up at this lighthouse. The last few times we have been here, it has always been closed. Today, it was open, so we gingerly walked the stairs to the top. The guide warned us... "Always watch your head, and twice... you really have to duck." I did my fog horn impression at the top. Steve, the docent, didn't really appreciate it.

Two other lighthouses, the irises, and some beautiful artwork (with prices) are on my FLICKR PAGE. So much color...so much talent.

We pulled into our house about 10 p.m.

P.S. Have you ever wanted to spend a week in a lighthouse? The upstairs apartment is now available to rent. It can be yours from Saturday to Saturday for $2000. (I would throw in the fog horn impression for free.)
