Wonderful colour - Tibouchina flower

Family name - Melastomataceae and is part of what is called a neotropical plant and is a genus of about 350 species.

VIEW IN LARGE

This one is from the Tibouchina Alstonville which is more a tree type size, and obtained its name Alstonville having been developed in Alstonville in northern New South Wales Australia.
If you are looking for colour in your garden, this is just one plant available in sizes varieties from a small shrub to this one. Resistant to most things (other than frost) makes for preferring a more temperate climate area, and a easy care plant.
I liked this with the bit of shadow from the stamens.
