Why are we the only people on the beach?

When we come to stay in France, weather permitting, we go down to the beach each night, before supper and have a sundowner, much to the amusement of the locals. Sometimes we go to a bar instead, and sit outside and have a glass of wine.
Tonight there was a bit of a drizzle but not too bad to stop us having our time on the beach to sit and stare at the sea. Can’t work out why no-one else was there tonight??
