Takayama

Another day of trains, buses, minibuses, bullet trains etc to get to Takayama. On the train in we passed these rice fields.

We visited the Hida cultural centre where they had brought together a number of buildings from a by gone era. It seems to me that not much has changed other than they have moved on in technology. Rooms in the houses, with the exception of the kitchens, remain the same.

This Ryokan is more basic, and as we are in the country we have dinner and breakfast supplied. Dinner this evening was a feast of unknown delights. I don't know how we will go back to one plate of food!

Later we started a group card game. Games always break down barriers. It seems the most unassuming of our group is a big gambler, and was desperate to take money off of us. We declined but had a lot of fun.
