Hot enough to poach eggs

This week's weather has been fabulous and so it continued today. We breakfasted outside again, contemplating what to do - we felt we had earned a day off. The village nearby was having its annual summer gala which we planned to look in at and so we did. It was busy with lots of kids and lots going on for them to do. Our garden made a small contribution to the plant stall and we enjoyed wandering around the attractions, chatting and partaking of some refreshments.

Meanwhile, our celmisia has just flowered and is showing off spectacularly. We have six or seven Celmisia spectabilis 'Eggleston Silver', to give it its full title or, as we call them, our 'poached eggs'. All have come from the purchase of a single plant at Eggleston in Teeside, about 7 or 8 years ago. There are over 30 big daisy heads on at least one of them, which indicates that they need to be split again. Today's blip seems to sum up the weather today, which was hot enough to poach eggs!
