Europe by van Day 14

No dogs, no drones, no thumping music or fireworks = a good night’s sleep. It’s so peaceful here at our camp spot near the Magura cave complex.

We decided to walk up there after breakfast to see the petroglyphs but the keeper of the cave said “Ne NE Nyet NYET” so we returned and took the van to see the Belogradchik rocks. A mix of sandstone and conglomerate, they were impressive. With difficulty we negotiated the narrow twisty streets of the village till we found a car park then walked up to the fortress from there. A better view was from a group of rocks further on. Fortunately there were steps (of a kind) and ladders to reach the top from where we had a wonderful view towards the fortress and other rock groups.

It was rather overcast so I was pleased Mr C had washed his red T-shirt and was wearing it again, as it stood out more for my photos.

On our return we had a look at Lake Rabisha and bought some local wine - there was a solitary stall and the young man spoke English, the first we’ve heard for some time. We have seen no UK vehicles since Slovakia and Western European ones are few - we have spotted some Belgian and German and one Austrian and Dutch.

I’m reading “The Prime Ministers we Never Had” by Steve Richards who we heard at Beyond Borders, but as the sun came out and it got hot, I was tempted to have a swim. It was pleasantly cool l.

Thank you for comments, hearts and stars. I’m sorry I am having to conserve my data so may not be commenting much on Blip.

We drove 33 miles today on typically poor roads.
