Lochan Eireannaich

We decided to go up to Balquhidder and walk the circular route round Kirkton Glen. It was dull and cool when we left and we planned to be home in time or a late lunch.

On the way up the forestry track my husband pointed up to the horizon and said that there was a Lochan up there, a work colleague had told him about it more than 20 years ago and he had never been up to look for it. We decided that today was the day and instantly extended our walk to 10 miles. It was well worth the walk, the Lochan is beautiful and the views were stunning.

When we sat down to have our lunch there (bananas and cereal bars as lunch was in the house) the sky cleared and the sun came out, a truly beautiful spot!
