Flowery fungus

As I was leaving the community orchard after a short meeting this morning, I spotted a group of this very attractive fungus which I thought had the appearance of a fantasy flower. I have never seen anything quite like it before today but maybe somebody can enlighten me.
It has been a rather wet day and it was necessary to light the wood burning stove at lunchtime to warm the house and give it some cheer.
Our DIY service at church went well and we had a number of visitors in the congregation who all said how much they had enjoyed it which is very encouraging.
This evening I had been invited to join a small group of folk from our local area. All of us had two things in common: roots on the island and a Gaelic heritage, but none of us knew the purpose of the gathering although this became clearer as the evening progressed.
It is a project which is evolving as people across the island share memories and stories related to Gaelic place names, especially if they are connected to trees. The reason for this being because Mull is a particularly wooded island compared to most others on west coast Scotland. It will be very interesting to see the next stage of the project, and eventually the end product.
