The Searchers On The Seafront, Margate

This is my long delayed blip about the second day of our holiday in Margate. I meant to write this much earlier but time, especially on week days, seems to run faster and I'm often just too tired, or sometimes, irritable to be able to focus properly to have done it justice.
We started the day with a longish walk from Cliftonville to the Bus Cafe (it does what it says on the tin!) at Royal Crescent Promenade to have our breakfast. My brother had  a crumpet slider with mumbled eggs and crisped bacon lardons and I had a toasted sausage sandwich on sourdough. Both were delicious and washed down with a strong coffee. We then decided to walk further along to Westbrook Bay (we'd never been to that part of Margate before) where I took the main image. One of the "searchers" in the shot is actually an Anthony Gormley sculpture but I really like how they all came together in the shot.
After that we knew we wanted to go and have an amble around Dreamland, another attraction we hadn't yet visited. As we headed there I spotted my second image (see first extra). I took a few shots but loved how in this one it seemed as if the passing car had catapulted the willing participant into the air! We reached our destination a bit early so headed for another al fresco coffee. This time it was a cappuccino at the rather lovely (and friendly) Harbour Cafe & Bar.
After a wander around Dreamland and taking a few more images (I couldn't quite get an image I was pleased with) we headed to the wonderfully eccentric and surreal Fez on the High Street for our first alcoholic beverage of the day. The proprietor was just as crazy as the interior but it made the experience even more memorable, with prodigious swearing and a tale involving an absolute aversion to pub carpets!
After all the walking we thought it best to have a rest and head for lunch at Olby's for jerk chicken and filled potato skins with cheese and ham. We knew what to expect as we'd been there before and it didn't disappoint in any way. By this point we were both full and chose to head back to the apartment for an afternoon snooze followed by a read of the papers.
In the early evening, in keeping with the rest of our break, we decided to try another new venue. This time it was Margate Off Licence which is actually a trendy bar. It was so lovely and relaxing so we had a couple of glasses of wine each listening to some great music from the resident DJ and looking at the dramatic sky. I felt I had to capture it as we left and that's when I took the second extra "Choose Love".
We had such a brilliant time and can't wait to go back again to discover more bars, restaurants and attractions and to take in that wonderful light and sea air once more.
