Argiope

I had begun to wonder why I hadn't seen any of these lovely big garden spiders yet. Finally found one today in the big hosta plant right at the end of our front porch. These spiders seem to have lots of names. Apologies to anyone who is freaked out by pictures of spiders.

Also - this morning about six deer were gathered right out in front of the house, several of them eating the birdseed I had scattered for the birds. The extra is the baby that was with them. So fuzzy! But losing her spots. She seemed to be with her Mum and her big sister (last year's fawn). Across the driveway was another Mum with her fawn - which has basically lost all its spots already. See extra.
