Honesty and mussels
Great day. Possibly the last sunny one for a while. Park walk at Maldon with Michelle. She wasn't feeling 100% but we chatted about Madrid, the lakes, finances, retirement, volunteering and then walked a lot of the second lap with Paul the musician and his pug. His heavily pregnant wife had run it with the other dog. The pug was an old boy, who had needed a carry at one point. We then talked about cheese, fish, Rubino Kitchen, weddings, Brighton and children later in life. Suddenly we were at the finish line and helping clear up. Onto Morrisons for an afternoon tea (at morning coffee time!) for a bargain £3 and onto the fresh fish barn we'd talked about earlier. Fresh mussels, Cromer crab and monkfish back in Michelle's fridge while we went for a swim at Osea. More people, paddleboarding and boats today. The water was beautiful again. We dried off a bit sitting in the sun, before paying for our car parking by having a cuppa at Tiptree tearoom. We talked quite openly and honestly, feeling comfortable and able.
Picked up my fish and said our goodbyes.
Jamie's Thai mussels for tea, monkfish for FK. My thinking he wouldn't be able to tolerate the texture of mussels, proved correct, but at least he tried.
Good after dinner conversations again before I sewed on his Master Cadet badge for him. He has battle of Britain parade tomorrow.
