Abner Hollow cabin

A fairly early start again, for Roger’s follow up appointment at the Eye Institute. The doctor seemed happy with how things look, and he no longer has to wear the big eye patch, but has a smaller clear plastic one to wear at night, so he doesn’t inadvertently rub or knock his eye. As the doctor said yesterday, he can’t really see anything out of it at present, but that will change as time progresses.
We treated ourselves to breakfast out at a local breakfast place called Toast and Berry, then since it was another lovely day, went for a flattish walk at Rowe Woods. For my blip, I chose to feature Abner Hollow Pioneer Cabin, which was originally built by pioneer settlers in the early 1800s, near Waggoners Riffle, a point at the Ohio Bush Creek in Adams County Ohio. The owners of the property where the cabin stood are long-time members and benefactors of Cincinnati Nature Center, and donated the cabin as a centerpiece for education about pioneer life. The cabin was dismantled for transport and reassembled on this site in 1997. The porches front and back have been added since, though historic evidence points to there having been a porch at one time at its original site. It is believed this two room cabin, plus a loft above, once housed 12 people.
