At Symonds Yat: shadow of her former self!

On a long walk today, I realised that the child that went away grew up into someone else. Ella has been on a school trip. We have never been apart from one another for this long before. I realise that either we getting to know each other again, or maybe we didn't really know each other very well before. Ella grew into a really thoughtful person. She's really mature. We sat on the riverbank and watched the boys play and the canoeists paddle down river. A canoe bumped into our little river beach. Ella jumps up and says to the paddlers, "Are you stuck?" and "Do you want me to push you off?"... The girl in the canoe looked really astounded, at the impromptu helper "eeeer, yes please"

Ella jumped in, the boys joined and they steered the canoe back into the river...... I sat and wondered at where this grown up girl came from. Perhaps she was there before. I think I saw my little girl before, now I have a big girl and a wonderful friend x
