Two Castles 10km Run
This shows the preparations being made to the main entrance to Kenilworth Castle, to greet the runners of the Two Castle 10km run (organised by volunteers - Kenilworth Rotary Club - and run for charity) early morning today from Warwick Castle to Kenilworth Castle, where it is believed knights once jousted on top of horses along this stretch of walkway.
Hundreds of years ago stone walls either side would have protected both the spectators and competitors from the elements, as the crowd cheered on the knights.
This morning it was the the start of the final 200 metres (A big yellow luminous sign with black lettering informs the runners), until the finish line inside Kenilworth Castle (large red building in background), and spectators on either side of the red cones (both left and right), which would have greeted the runners as they realised that the end of the race was in sight!
The temporary metal barries on either side, are to stop the cheering spectators in their excitement falling down in places what is roughly a good seven foot drop onto a hard grassy bank - and possibly conceiled stone. I was unable to attend so I thought I'd give you a taste of what they would have partially experienced.
