Local friends
I met these two lovely ladies at the bakery this morning. The woman with glasses is the owner and the other one of her friends I got to know well, and our translator. We spent a lovely couple of hours chatting between customers. Such kind people.
I went back to my old apartment to collect my bags and sort my stuff only to find out I had to get out within 30 minutes, not 4.5 hours as they were going out and needed to clean it. I had papers to sort. The level of stress from the owner needing to get this done was palpable. Thankfully my friend on the other side of the square was home and had messaged to say she hadn’t gone away and come visit. I decamped there, we had a lovely catch-up and I sorted and tossed papers and had a much-needed shower.
Soon it was time to go to the airport and I was put on an earlier flight, apparently the one I was on was late. Arrived safely, headed to the hotel with noisy, airless air conditioning, paid extortionate sums for water (only €0.50) in Greece and pretended to sleep!
