The beast, the machine I mean…

The forecast said dry morning and sunshine and showers in the afternoon. We hung the washing out and set off at around 11.00am only for a short sharp shower to tumble from the clouds.

Within 20 minutes the sun was out and it remained sunny for the rest of the day. The washing dried ok in the end. This guy make quite an entrance to the Mote Park cafe where we were having a coffee.

An afternoon of jobs. Stung by vast increase in car insurance which was 50% more than last year despite using Martin Lewis’s comparison tool. Renewed our Rent A Cherry Tree subscription and did much cooking.

Many of you may know of our fondness for a Celtic folk rock band Runrig. They’ve been the soundtrack to our lives since 1997 and we saw their final performance after 45 years as a band at Stirling Castle in May 2018. We learned last week that the lead singer, Bruce Guthro, who took over from Donnie Munro in 1997 has died after battling cancer for several years.

It’s come as an enormous shock to us and the many, many Riggies to whom the group is quite simply the best. His music, his contribution will live on but listening to the albums and watching the videos, especially the final “Last Dance” in 2018 will be forever poignant.
