The day we moved to the site. I was on one of the later buses so left at 9.30am so by the time we got to the jamboree site we were back of the queue as far as the uk were concerned. We joined the winding queue to sign in and get our passes, tee shirts, battery packs, and other bits and pieces. We got our passes and told the rest was held up…
Got to the IST hub to check in with UK CMT and found out my tent mate was Callum who had already pitched the tent as he was on an earlier bus. He had started work a day early though so was nowhere to be found until late in the evening. I was planning on picking up a jamboree tent to bring home and to give me more space but the Buffalo stall wasn’t open until the second day much to the annoyance of those that had prebought them expecting to have them on the first day!
Getting used to the site was hard. The roads aside from the main circuit were hardcore surfaces so not smooth making it painful to walk on for extended periods. Drainage ditches everywhere which would cause issues later and canalised waterways blocking easy access to facilities. The subcamps themselves were situated below the level of the roads so would flood relatively easily.
