The Rose Before the Rain
Rain is forecast tomorrow, so I thought I'd take a photo of one of the remaining roses which probably won't survive the rain. A cooler day today at about 24C, but still too hot in the house - bungalows are so difficult to cool down, particularly given the ' tropical nights' we've had. A busy day of cutting back and weeding, plus applying more wood stain.
Covid Update
The Autumn vaccination programme started today for both Covid and flu. The initial vaccinations will be given to older people living in care homes and people who are housebound. Initially the surgery in Holt said to ring up from today, but this was changed to 18th Sept as 'unfortunately there have been delays with the national online booking system we use for appointments'. Per the BBC, you should wait at least four weeks after a positive test, and you should not have a jab if you have a severe illness or high fever. 28 of the 34 cases of the new variant BA.2.86 (called Pirola) in England were in an outbreak at a Norfolk care home (the unusual outbreak led to analysis being done to identify the variant). The Scottish Govt said the situation is kept under review as an infection expert called for lateral flow tests to become free again to monitor the spread of Pirola - he said some people might not be able to afford the tests.
