The Octagon

This is looking up inside the glorious octagonal tower from inside Ely Cathedral. (See the tower with its eight massive stone pillars in the extra photo.)

We have stopped off for the night in Ely on our way south. It’s a place we’ve never been to before and what a lovely place it is. We are staying in an old inn almost adjacent to the Cathedral so wandered over this afternoon.

The Cathedral was closed to visitors but, as a service was taking place in the choir, people were able to wander about or sit and listen. It was wonderful to sit quietly and listen to the organ and singing in this impressive building.
