Strawberry Time

I'm lucky to live in "berry country" where the strawberries start the season off in June, followed by raspberries, blackberries and blueberries, all growing in fields within a 15 minute drive of my home.

Strawberries are here now so I went after some today and wasn't disappointed. I can either pick them myself or buy them ready to go -- either way, they're delightful. And they sell all the components for strawberry shortcake too, or you can buy it right there and eat it next to the fields the berries came from.

There are fresh produce stands popping up all over the place. Another couple of weeks will see sigar smap peas, which I absolutely love, carrots and gorgeous sweet onions everywhere. It's a veggie and fruit lover's paradise.
