Garden Center Chicken
Today was the Grand Floral Parade for our Rose Festival, but we had to record the TV broadcast as we were gone. Bill to work and I over to run all over hell and gone with my auntie. So, it was a full and busy day (and it was a gorgeous day too) as I was at my aunt's house at 10 a.m. and we left shortly thereafter. Library and then we went to her local big garden center that has been there since 1956 or thereabouts. There was a family, whose father had a nursery, and all of the family members had names that started with D, so the nursery was called Seven D's nursery. As each child grew up, several of the D's expanded and had their own nursery, so "Dennis' Seven D's ", and "Drake's Seven D's", etc. They have been a fixture in the Portland area for years. ANYWAY, we find out that the one by my aunt's place is CLOSING! Horrors. We went there and I sure wish we'd known about it earlier, as they had giant discounts on everything. A lot of their nursery stock was long gone, but the two chickens were still pecking around. A former employee of theirs is going to take the chickens to a new home, and this nursery is actually moving to the west side of town, to a more upscale area. So all the people in this area of town will have no really nice garden center to go to anymore. We were bummed. On the plus side, my aunt got a nice pot for half price and I picked up two plants for our yard and discounted prices. And I got to see the chickens again. It was a quick snap and the rest of the day was running here and there, and our son came over and we got to talk to him, and I had to go to the store and fix dinner and take auntie home and then there was an accident on the bridge and coming home was a slow process and blah, blah, blah.....not much camera time today. I love the color of this chicken...She's a lovely "redhead".
I'm tired.. See ya later.
