SIGNS OF AUTUMN

The day started off foggy with some dampness in the air but that soon cleared to leave a hot day- not much sunshine though and it was very humid. We had about 5 mins of heavy rain around 5.30pm.

I walked down to the village this afternoon.  Hip was OK - ish but my back was painful today.  Sat on a bench outside Tesco and just enjoyed watching the world go by for a bit.

Had two parcels to collect at Tesco and it took ages for the staff to find them.  The first lad checked all the parcels on the shelves with no luck.  So someone else looked through them ... still no parcels for me.  Then someone else looked ... and found them. No idea why the first two had no luck.

Put a load of washing on when I got home.  Later on when I went to get it out of the machine I that the machine was still had some water in and some clothes looked wet and some looked dry. The water didn't look soapy either. Machine was obviously " playing up".  Managed to finally get the water to drain away but a lot of the clothes were dripping wet and some were half dry and half wet..  Hung them all outside.  They obviously hadn't had been washed so they will need doing again.... when I get a new washing machine.  Im holding off ordering one as the utility room where the washer " lives " is full of stuff and there would be no room for the old washer to be manoeuvred out and the new washer put in its place.  So I will have to have a good clear out and a tidy up to make things easier.

Neil was running in The Chopper today - a running event in Chopwell Woods.   The idea was to run as many 4.2 mile loops as you could within 6 hours or 12 hours.  Neil signed up for the 12 hours but in the end he wasn't able to do it for that long due to the heat.  The race started at 10am and Neil ended up running  for 7½ hours and completed 34 miles.  Must have been tough for all the runners with the conditions being so hot and humid.

Found my blip shots when I was out this afternoon - some lovely bright oak leaves, flowers on a blackberry bush, elderberries and a sticky horse chestnut bud.

Steps today - 6,692
