Unlike many areas our maximum temperature reached 20c after the haar cleared but it was very pleasant to walk without feeling hot. We decided to pick brambles beside a nearby track where few people ever go and in fact I have seen only five people there and that was during lockdown and once since. It was very peaceful with a few birds singing and three skeins of geese flew over reminding us that autumn is here despite the heatwave affecting many parts of Britain. It started to rain but not before we had picked four and a half kilos adding to the three kilos picked earlier in the week, much of which is frozen for future use and there are still many berries left and probably few people will walk by to pick them.
